What kind of riding program does the ranch offer? Because we are a destination for dude ranch vacations, our Wranglers will select a horse for you, before you arrive, from our herd of well-broke, experienced trail horses. The head wrangler bases his decision on the information you provide, so please be accurate regarding your height, weight and ability. If we made a good match, you will ride the same horse throughout the week.
Our riding program consists mainly of morning and afternoon scenic trail rides lasting 1- 1 1/2 hrs. These trail rides are single file and divided into groups of 8-10 riders. Due to the hilly and uneven terrain loping is not permitted on the trail. More experienced riders will enjoy more difficult trails, some trotting, and loping when appropriate. Arena rides are available early in the week for instruction and later in the week for games, barrels, or just some loping in a controlled setting. Our wilderness ride to Keys Gap lasts close to 4hrs and is restricted to experienced riders only. In addition to our normal trail rides we offer a breakfast ride, an evening ride for the adults, and a steak-fry ride.
What is the altitude of the ranch? Approximately 2100 ft.
Are facilities accessible for wheelchairs or otherwise handicapped? Yes.
Is smoking permitted? Yes, outside only and during breaks while trail riding.
